Crowns and bridges are fixed dental restorations designed to restore damaged teeth and replace missing ones, giving you back a healthy, functional, and natural-looking smile. They are cemented onto existing teeth or implants and cannot be removed by the patient, making them a durable and long-term solution.
A crown (commonly called a “cap”) is used to cover a damaged, weak, or root canal–treated tooth. It strengthens the tooth and improves its appearance, shape, and alignment. Crowns can be made from materials like porcelain, ceramic, zirconia, or porcelain-fused-to-metal, depending on the patient’s needs.
A bridge is used when one or more teeth are missing. It literally “bridges” the gap by anchoring onto adjacent teeth or implants, restoring chewing ability, speech, and the natural contour of the face. Bridges also help prevent nearby teeth from drifting out of position.
